Slam it Home!

Sooooo, I've decided to be like one of my best friends, Erin, and create a blog! I've always been fascinated by the "blogging" world, but have never joined in on the fun......until tonight! I never knew how much went into "blogging" until I tried to create my own, boy do I have a lot to learn! Hopefully I will get in the routine quickly!

Where do you really start with a new blog? Is it right smack dab at 7:24PM when I'm writing this and forward? Is it update you on my life since being married? Is it catch up time with high school classmates on what has gone on with me in the last 8 years (WOW)! Hmmm who knows...I guess I just begin where I want it to begin!

So I'll start with things more recent and possibly throw in some flashbacks occasionally, might be good to reminisce.

If you know me at all, you know I love to watch Cal (my 16yo brother) play basketball! It's like I'm living vicariously through him and can take my mind back to when I hadn't gained weight and was still able to get up and down the court in a timely manner! HAHA! Anyways, I CANNOT, for the life of me, control my emotions during these games! I get more nervous/excited/anxious watching Cal play than when I did playing at OU, which I think is crazy! NOTE: If you ever saw me at OU, I was the one in all the pictures with my mouth wide open, arms raised, jumping up and down, going crazy at even the smallest of feats! Welllll I now do this at Cal's HIGH SCHOOL games! I can't help it! People probably think I'm crazy, but what can I say, I wear my emotions on my sleeves!

So Cal decides the other night, in the game against Blanchard (mind you, we haven't beat them in probably 2-3 years), that he was going to dunk it....not just once...not just twice....but THREE TIMES!!!! OH MY GOSH!! Do you think I went crazy, UMMM YEAH! But let me tell you what the coolest part about this whole situation is...Side Note: If you're the parent of a player, you usually are pretty modest about your kids abilities...such as my parents...they tend not to get TOOOO excited when Cal does something good, but just kinda sit there and clap a little...NOT BIG SISTER! I stand and cheer and clap for EVERY LITTLE THING...like I said, I can't help it!!

Ok, so back to the coolest part of the story....As Cal's going in for this second of three dunks (the first one was kind of a weiny dunk we'll say), you can see it all over his face that he's about to slam it hard! The Blanchard kid, who will remain nameless, decides to foul him for the "AND-1"!!! As I'm doing my usual thing and going COMPLETELY CRAZY (mouth wide open, screaming at the top of my lungs, fists up in the air, jumping up and down), what do I notice....MOM AND DAD are right beside me doing the EXACT SAME THING!!

In that moment I knew that I only caught a glimpse of how parenthood would be someday! I can't imagine how proud my mom and dad were that night! Even though it's "SPORTS" and there are many more things to be proud of a kid for, my dad has been there with Cal in the gym for 16 years now, and that was such a cool moment to watch!

Now let me go ahead and throw out there that if you ever come to a Washington High School basketball game, yes, you are sure to see me go crazy at some point! It's in the nature of my personality!

Up next, Sarah! : )
